The two books, “Public Parks and Open Green Spaces” by the Alliance for Safe and Sustainable Reconstruction and the “Native Plants of Boracay Wetlands” by the Energy Development Corporation were published in cooperation with the BMB. Environment Secretary Roy A. Cimatu (right) and Mr. Jose Ma. K. Lim, president and chief executive officer of the Metro Pacific Investments Corporation (MPIC) capped their new partnership for the cleanup of 20 esteros draining to Pasig river in an effort to restore the waters of Manila Bay to SB classification in consonance with the continuing mandamus issued by the Supreme Court. Both officials signed the memorandum of understanding (MOU) under the Adopt-an-Estero Program of the DENR at the OSEC Conference Room on March 21, 2019. The MOU also covers the fixing of sewer lines and sewage network for a more efficient service by Maynilad Water Services, Inc., being MPIC’s subsidiary. ###

Rey made the cooking demo for the “BalikTikim” portion of this year’s International Day for Biological Diversity (IDBD) celebration held at the Amphitheater of the Ninoy Aquino Parks and Wildlife Center on May 22, 2019. With the theme “Our Biodiversity, Our Food, Our Health,” the Biodiversity Management Bureau (BMB) conducted a food exhibition dubbed as “Samu’tSaringTikim Fair” to showcase the native cuisines of the Philippines that are healthy, environment-friendly and sustainable. ###

.Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Undersecretary for Solid Waste Management and Local Government Unit Concerns Benny Antiporda (3rd from right) holds the Plaque of Appreciation given by National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) Police Major General Guillermo Eleazar (2ndfrom right) and the NCRPO Command Group. Antiporda was the Guest of Honor and Speaker during NCRPO’s Flag Raising and Awarding Ceremonies held at Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City on May 27. In his speech, Antiporda said that through the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) assistance and cooperation, the DENR has been successful in its clean up of Manila Bay. The DENR and PNP are partners in solid waste management, clean up efforts and other environmental activities.
