San Fabian, Pangasinan – In compliance to their renewal of transport franchise and as part of their commitment and support to the protection and conservation to the environment, several transport groups from Pangasinan together with elements of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) conducted a mangrove planting activity in Barangay Sobol, San Fabian, Pangasinan on January 27 and 30, 2021.
In coordination with the CENRO Central Pangasinan headed by OIC, CENR Officer Frank Vincent Danglose, a total of 300 mangrove propagules (Bakawan) were planted within the 46- hectare mangrove plantation of People’s Organization (PO)- Small Anchor Fisher Folks Association (SAFA) near the shorelines of Barangay Sobol, a coastal community of San Fabian. The transport groups include, Extreme Dagupan Pangasinan Transport Corporation (EDPTC), Dagupan, Calasiao Transport Cooperative (DCTC) and Dagupan United Eastern Transport Cooperative (DUETCO). A total of 780 mangrove propagules have been planted on said mangrove plantation which was established by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Region- I (DENR-I) and SAFA in 2017.
