378492167 643968047921359 8621328037765277684 nLaoagMangataremIn this year’s commemoration of the Philippine Bamboo Month and the World Bamboo Day on September 18, and in celebration of the 66th natal day of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr., the Department of Environment and Natural Resources- Region I (DENR-I) with its field offices took part in the nationwide simultaneous bamboo and tree planting activity on September 13, 2023 in the Ilocos Region.

Over 500 participants from various national government agencies, local government units, academe, youth organizations, non-government organizations and other stakeholders took part in planting 2,510 seedlings of bamboo propagules and forest trees such as mahogany, yemane, narra, and dalayap in the different planting sites across the Ilocos Region.

Pursuant to Proclamation No. 1401 series of 2022, the Philippine Bamboo Month is observed every September to promote environmental and economic importance of bamboos. (RSCIG/MSA)
