ORIENTATION SC 1City of San Fernando, La Union-The Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Region I (DENR I) conducted an orientation for potential retirees whose age range from 60-64 years old on September 11, 2023 at the DENR Social Hall, Sevilla, City of San Fernando, La Union.
The activity aimed to provide vital information to employees who opt to avail of the retirement processes, documentary requirements, and benefits intended to address concerns and provide retirees with all the necessary information they need to smoothly navigate through their retirement journey.
In his message, DENR- I Regional Executive Director Atty. Crizaldy M. Barcelo emphasized the significance of the said orientation for potential retirees and likewise, revealed that he too shall be retiring after two years. He further stressed to be well- informed about their rights, benefits and options during this crucial phase of their lives. RED Barcelo’s message served as a reminder of the importance of empowering individuals as they embark on this new chapter of their lives.
OIC Assistant Regional Director for Management Services, Engr. Raymundo C. Gayo, who was also participant of the event, delivered his opening remarks highlighting the importance of embracing this new chapter in their lives and encouraged them to seize every opportunity that retirement had to offer.

The series of sessions covered various topics such as the application process for retirement benefits, documentary requirements needed for processing claims, as well as an overview of the available programs offered by government agencies discussed by resource speakers from the Regional Office I of GSIS (Government Service Insurance System), PAG-IBIG (Home Development Mutual Fund), and DENR.
Attorney II Aira Graize Dela Cruz of DENR I Legal Division delved into the Senior Citizens Act otherwise known Republic Act No. 9994 as well as the intricate web of laws, rights, and privileges bestowed upon the esteemed group. Her discussion served as a valuable resource for the potential retirees seeking clarity on their entitlements in their golden years.
ORIENTATION SC 4To further assist participants in their retirement planning, Staff Officer I Karla Mae D. Jalad from GSIS Region I provided them with tentative computations of retirement benefits. She also shared important information about various programs offered by their office specifically designed for retirees.
Division Chief III Edison J. Iglesia from Pag-IBIG Fund Region I enlightened participants on the various programs offered by their office for retirees, including the Pag-ibig 1 and 2 schemes. In his insightful discussion, Iglesia emphasized the benefits and advantages of these programs, highlighting how they can provide financial security and stability during retirement. With an extensive understanding of the needs and concerns of retirees, the agency aims to ensure a comfortable future and financially-secured for all its members.
DENR Personnel Chief Rowena A. Verde then discussed the computation of terminal leave benefits, shedding light on how employees can maximize their entitlements upon retirement from the department.
Overall, this orientation served as a valuable and significant resource for employees approaching retirement age.
