Dish Garden Landscaping Competition- one of the highlights of DENR- I Environment Month 2021 celebration

SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union – One of the highlights in the Philippine Environment Month 2021 celebration spearheaded by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Region- I (DENR- I) was the Dish Garden Landscaping Competition which was held at the DENR- I Building Roof Deck, Government Center, Sevilla, San Fernando City, La Union on June 29, 2021.

The Dish Garden Landscaping Competition is in line with the Philippine Environment Month 2021 theme, “Sama- samang Pagkilos, Sama- samang Paghilom: Ikaw, Ako, Tayo ang Kalikasan,” and was competed by four (4) entries from various services of DENR- I namely; Office of the Assistant Regional Director (ARD) Management Services, Office of the ARD Technical Services, Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) and the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB). Five personnel are assigned on each 17” diameter circular clay plate using recyclable material, ornamental plants, top soil, rocks and other materials. All competing entries were given one (1) hour to assemble and design their dish garden landscape. The exciting and creative competition was judged by DENR- I key officials led by Regional Executive Director Atty. Crizaldy M. Barcelo. The awarding of the winners were officially announced during the Environment Month 2021 Culminating Program held at DENR- I Social Hall on June 30, 2021. The Office of the ARD Management Services garnered the top award with a 96.8% rating and also the RED’s Choice Award winning the P 3,000 top cash prize.  Other three (3) entries were awarded with P 1,000 each consolation prizes.

The Dish Garden competition showcases the creativity, camaraderie, artistic and competitiveness of DENR- personnel especially this pandemic. (RSCIG- GCG)
