San Quintin, Pangasinan - Presidential Adviser for Northern Luzon Sec. Raul L. Lambino lauded the leadership of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources here in Region 1 for being proactive in advancing development through private and public partnership and collaboration. “You’re doing a good job here in Region 1,” Sec. Lambino quipped immediately after the presentation of the Daang Kalikasan Developmental Framework by the team headed by Regional Executive Director Atty. Crizaldy M. Barcelo.

A stalwart of the environment, he took a short visit to Ilocos Region as part of his duty being the Presidential Adviser for Northern Luzon.  Sec. Lambino who is known to be an environmental advocate is also the chief executive officer of the Cagayan Economic Zone Authority (CEZA).

His casual talk with the DENR-1 Chief Atty.  Barcelo during his stop at the townhall of San Quintin, Pangasinan before proceeding to the proposed investment site of the LGU, he recommends for the identification of a municipality to host a sanitary landfill that can cater to a cluster of LGUs in Easter Pangasinan which can be replicated in other part of the country.

Sec. Lambino also visited the proposed LGU investment site in Brgy. Dipalo where he checked for himself the feasibility of the site to a sustainable development.  He hiked for more than an hour enduring the scorching heat of the sun. “Maganda ang lugar na ito for an eco-tourist destination” remarked by the official as he urged Mayor Clark Cecil P. Tiu to continue working with the private sector as partners in the protection and conservation of the environment.

His travel to this side of the region is promising not just for San Quintin, Pangasinan but also for the DENR Region 1 as the agency propels the initiative and drive to conserve and protect Daang Kalikasan through an auspicious developmental framework to guide the partner agencies in achieving its goal for a greener infrastructure.  This roadmap is a complete architecture of engineering intervention and beautification of the area which is going to be a collaborative effort between the DENR-1, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) – Region 1 and Department of Tourism (DOT) – Region 1.
