DENR-1 UNITES TO HEAL AS ONE IN THE BATTLE TO FIGHT COVID-19

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources Region 1 distributed essential needs such as food packs, face masks and face shields to frontliners including the security guards assigned in the regional office in San Fernando City, La Union. This is DENR-1’s way to provide support to the agency's frontliners and DENR Region 1's way of responding to the Bayanihan to Heal as one Act or the RA 11469.

The Samahan ng mga Manggagawa para sa Kalikasan (SAMAKA) Region 1 started a fund raising activity within its members to help the communities affected by the quarantine. Sets of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) containing microfiber suit, shoe cover and N95 masks were distributed to 3 major hospitals in La Union which are admitting Persons Under Monitoring, Persons Under Investigation and COVID positive cases. The rest of the gathered fund were used to purchase additional PPEs and food packs which were donated to garbage collectors and other recipients identified by the agency.

Regional Executive Director Atty. Crizaldy Barcelo encouraged everyone to stay home and be safe from COVID19 to prevent further outbreak. He thanked the frontliners for their utmost dedication, courage and eagerness to serve the people.
