Vigan, Ilocos Sur – “We need to start shaping up and uphold the DENR Core values at all times.” This was the callout of Assistant Secretary for Human Resource and Development and Legislative Affairs Joan A. Lagunda to all DENR Ilocos Region Officials during her visit to the north as part of her DENR HRD appraisal and assessment.
ASec. Lagunda reviewed and checked the HRD activities and interventions of Ilocos Region despite of the bad weather. She was prompt and outspoken on what she wants to impose in improving the jewels of the organization, its employees. She believes that an organization’s asset lies in its people and it is very crucial to invest in the development of employees thus, she finds time to go to the field offices to instill the core values of the agency and gave a stern warning in those not following the civil service rules and policies as prescribed by the Civil Service Commission.
She presented the DENR core values which is also coined from the DENR acronym. The Core Values of DENR according to ASec. Lagunda is D-for Discipline, E-for Excellence, N-for Nobility and R-for Responsibility. Discipline exemplifies giving value for people, work and organization; Excellence is for enhancing competencies, enforcing environmental laws and achieving goals with service quality; Nobility is exemplifying integrity with compassion, pride and honor and Responsibility for being committed, accountable, transparent and participatory towards good governance.

Gone are the days that we forget about the image of the organization we work for, but because of the leadership of Sec. Roy A. Cimatu, who himself exemplifies the DENR core values, his army must also follow suit and keep being accustomed to the values of the agency.
Her visit was the 5th leg in her HRD caravan. She was with HRD Director Ric Enriquez as they were warmly welcomed by the DENR Ilocos Region Officials headed by Regional Executive Director Carlito M. Tuballa.
