 1st NGP-PO SUMMIT in Region 1 held.  The recently held summit is considered a significant milestone for DENR-Region 1 because it converged a total of 103 People’s Organizations and 31 LGUs from the four provinces in the region. The POs and LGUs were tapped as partners in the implementation of the National Greening Program, one of the banner programs of the DENR. The summit aimed to pave the way for the resolutions for the partners in expressing their commitment and support to the NGP as well as finding solutions to problems identified. Selected speakers were invited to share best practices in the implementation of NGP as a way of instilling knowledge and inspire the PO and implementors. DENR Secretary Ramon J.P. Paje was the keynote speaker and was represented by Assistant Secretary of Field Operations Marcial Amaro (photo above) who delivered an inspiring speech that the NGP is not only a reforestation project but also aims at reducing poverty through livelihood opportunities and for climate mitigation. National NGP Coordinator.  The summit was organized by the Office of the Regional NGP Coordinator headed by For. Maximo Soriano which was held at the President Hotel, Lingayen, Pangasinan from June 3-5, 2015 (E.E. Patrimonio/RPAO).
