San Fernando City, La Union -   Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) – Ilocos Region Executive Director Atty. Crizaldy M. Barcelo congratulates the field offices while he sets the tone and direction for CY 2021 in terms of the urgent and emerging issues on environment in the region through the conduct of the 1st Expanded Executive Committee Meeting.

Region 1 Environment Chief said that “2020 is a learning experience and there is an urgent need to put into action the teachings of the past.  Exert extra efforts to improve the region’s performance on the 10-priority programs for CY2021 by creating strategic action based from the previous year.  I understand there were challenges but let us work harder to achieve our goals.”

The expanded executive committee meeting was an avenue to review the physical and financial performance of the field office from the previous year and improve on the setbacks with high hopes for the new year.  Some concerns were also raised which the management wish to undertake necessary corrective measures to avoid the same deficiency and failures.

During the meeting, th6 execome validation team presented the results of the Means of Verification (MOV) assessment of Field Offices with various observation based on the evaluation tool of the DENR.   These observations are relevant in attaining the targets of the agency.

Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) - 1 Regional Director Engr. Ma. Dorica Naz-Hipe also presented their financial and physical accomplishments on clean air, clean water and solid waste management and their targets for CY2021.  She (RD Hipe) also shared theIntegrated Information System developed by a systems expert in the bureau which aims to eliminate paper transactions and go paperless in compliance to international standards.

Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB)-1 Regional Director Engr. Carlos A. Tayag also presented their 2020 accomplishments on geohazard groundwater assessment and responsible mining and sharing their targets and activities for CY2021.

Boosting the morale of the DENR-1 workforce, the key officials capped the meeting with the unveiling of the the PRIME-HR Bronze Award marker mounted infront of the regional office.  The award was conferred by the Civil Service Commission (CSC) during the 114th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary.  A recognition where personnel draw inspiration to work with passion and dedication to public service.
