 Ms Philippines Earth candidates flash their respective copies of a magazine promoting a vegan life following a discussion on the importance of eating healthy and acquiring life-long dietary habitswith Ms. Nona Andaya-Castillo (extreme right),founder of LuntianLunes. The healthy talk is part of the Environmental Seminar hosted by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) recently at the training center of the Biodiversity Management Bureau in Quezon City. The candidates were also briefed on the Manila Bay rehabilitation efforts of the government led by DENR. ###

Ms. Chona Tura (right photo), senior science research specialist at Coastal, Resources and Ecotourism Research, Development and Extension Center (CRERDEC), presents her study on the biodiversity profile and carrying capacity of the Lamanoc Island Mystic and Mangrove Tours in Bohol. Tura presented the study during the First Annual Technical Seminar organized by the Ecosystems Research and Development Bureau (ERDB) in Los Banos, Laguna on Monday, June 17, 2019. She recommends that the current efforts in the conservation, management, and protection of mangrove, terrestrial, and coastal resources in the island must be strengthened and sustained. ###

Phytoremediation is “an economicaland sustainable technology to clean up contaminated mining areas and restore its immediate ecosystem using living plants. Among Siapno’s recommendations relating to phytoremediation includethe use of existing native tree species in the area to spur rehabilitation and fern species to cover the bare areas along riverbanks.”###
