Volunteers for the 2019 International Coastal Cleanup (ICC) held in Brgy. Baseco, Tondo, Manila sort the trash they collected along Baseco Beach during the cleanup on September 21, 2019. Every item picked is recorded in the Ocean Trash Data Form and submitted to the area coordinator or sent to Ocean Conservancy for validation and analysis with the goal of coming up with solutions to marine pollution. More than 6,000 volunteers joined the cleanup in Baseco Beach which was spearheaded by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and the city government of Manila. Other DENR cleanup activities were held in various coasts and waterways in the Manila Bay region in support of the ICC and the Battle for Manila Bay.###

The trash traps, made of plastic bottles enclosed in a fishing net, aim to prevent trash from flowing into the river which drains to Manila Bay.The activity is in support of the 2019 International Coastal Cleanup and the DENR’s Battle for Manila Bay. The event included environmental orientation, training on waste reuse, and a painting exhibit by Mina F. Hanihara, an autistic painter. This year, CPAP Week is observed from September 16-22, with theme, Taong May Cerebral Palsy: KabahagisaPag-unladng Bayan TungosaMagandangKinabukasan.###

Combined forces from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Zamboanga Peninsula, National Bureau of Investigation and the 53rdInfantry Battalion of the Philippine Army discover various species of illegally-cut lumber in Barangay Dumalian, San Miguel, Zamboanga del Sur on September 7, 2019. The lumber, totaling some 3,000 board feet, were confiscated and brought to the DENR Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Officein Pagadian City.###
