DENR Secretary Roy A. Cimatu installs a New Regional Director in Ilocos Region

San Fernando City, La Union - Nothing is permanent except change.  This was manifested during the recently held Turn-over Ceremony at the Department of Environment and Natural Resources Region 1.  The Outgoing Region 1 Director Paquito T. Moreno, Jr. was succeeded by the former Region XII Director Reynulfo A. Juan.

The change in the leadership in DENR Region 1 came about last January 15, 2018 by virtue of DENR Special Order No. 2018-27 signed by Sec. Roy A.  Cimatu

Outgoing Region 1 Director Paquito T. Moreno, Jr. wholeheartedly welcomed the change of command as he is pretty sure that he will become a vital part of the DENR in combatting the problems in the mining sector.  He was thankful to the Secretary for the trust and confidence given to him.

Incoming Region 1 Director Reynulfo A. Juan, likewise expressed his gratitude to Sec. Cimatu and the whole DENR Officialdom for entrusting to him to lead DENR Ilocos Region.  He promised to pay forward through sincere, fast and efficient service to his father’s birth region, as his dad hails from Laoag City, Ilocos Norte.

During the turn-over rites, Sec. Cimatu underscored that the change in leadership does not mean a non-performance of the outgoing Regional Director but he found a better position for RD Moreno who is a Mining Engineer whom the Secretary stated that he (RD Moreno) can be an asset in the agency’s efforts in mining.  Likewise with the incoming Regional Director Juan who is a Geologist by profession will be a huge help in the dwindling water

production in Region 1.  The DENR Chief likewise expressed his high hopes in the leadership of the new Region 1 Director as he has shown his clout in serving the government for the last 41 years.

Sec. Cimatu highlighted in his keynote speech that “if you fail to plan, you plan to fail.”  Translating it to the government’s efforts in the environmental issues and concerns especially in strategizing to neutralize the enemies of the environment and natural resources.

After the ceremonial rites, the DENR Officials visited the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office in La Union as Sec. Cimatu promised that he will strengthen the capacity of the PENROs and CENROs to sustain the best service to the Filipinos.  (RPAO)
