DENR-1 Extension Officers equipped with

NGP Policies and Regulations

 

One hundred eighty four (184) Forest Extension Officers (EOs) and Site Coordinators of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Region 1 recently oriented and updated on the latest developments and instructions regarding the implementation of the National Greening Program (NGP).

Specifically, the EOs and Site Coordinators were taught on various topics such as Duties and Responsibilities of EOs, People’s Organization (PO) Community Organizing and Protocols and Buttom-up Budget (BuB) Projects, and Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) topics .

The Office of the Regional Director (ORD) thru the Regional NGP Coordinating Office has conducted a series of meeting cum orientation on September 8 and 9 and attended by the NGP field implementers from the Provincial and Community Environment and Natural Resources Offices (PENROs/CENROs) of the four provinces, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, and Pangasinan.

During the said events, the EOs and Site Coordinators were reminded of their duties and responsibilities as the bridge builders in the success of the project through the NGP partners POs/LGUs and other stakeholders. Also, it was emphasized that EOs and Sites Coordinators should act as IEC agents being the channels of information to the communities on various environmental laws and regulations.

In the Action Planning Session, the EOs and Site Coordinators were directed to complete all their planting activities before the onset of El Nino Phenomena. Also, the action plans must contain the anticipation of the possible effects of El Nino.

The meetings were also focused on the Status of the Accomplishments of NGP and Presentation/Discussions of EOs and Site Coordinators’ Action Plans per area of assignments/s for the next four (4) months of CY 2015.

ARD Bambalan reminded the EOs to focus not only on the activities, but also on the results. “Pag may problema, gawan ng paraan or go to your Site Coordinators. At kung hindi kaya ng Site Coordinators, go to a higher level: CENRO, PENRO, and Regional. Don’t stop. Keep finding results,” ARD added.
