DENR-I STRENGTHENS PARTNERSHIP WITH LOCAL GOVERNMENT OF TAYUG THROUGH THE HANDOG TITULO PROGRAM

 TAYUG, PANGASINAN - A Memorandum of Partnership Agreement (MOPA) was entered into between the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Region 1 and the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Tayug, Pangasinan at the Tayug Gymnasium on July 24, 2015.

The agreement aims to strengthen the partnership between DENR and the LGU in public land titling. The MOPA capacitates LGU Personnel to assist in the acceptance of Free Patent Applications and bring the Handog Titulo Program closer to the constituents as they may now apply at the Office of the Municipal Assessor.

Assistant Regional Director for Technical Services Gwendolyn C. Bambalan emphasized the importance of land titles to spur economic growth and make the Handog Titulo Program more accessible to the stakeholders through partnership with local government units.“It is the intention of the administration of President Benigno Aquino III to be able to title all lands during his term”, ARD Bambalan added. Likewise, ARD Bambalan thanked the LGUs for their support to the said program.

Mayor Agabas acknowledged the significance of the program and recognized the initiative of the DENR which contributes in improving the economic opportunities of Tayugeños. Beneficiaries responded that the said titling of lands is of great help to the community especially that the majority of lands in Tayug are agricultural in use.

Fifty three (53) beneficiaries from eleven (11) barangays were awarded with land titles.

The awardees expressed their gratitude as they can now, prove their ownership over the land and pledged to work harder to make their lands more productive.

A mass acceptance for Free Patent Titling application was conducted after the MOPA signing and patent distribution. (zlpaday-os/rpao)
