DENR-1 strengthens SCREMP

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources has staged an all way out strategy to strengthen its conservation and protection of the Region’s coastal resources through the Sustainable Coral Reef Ecosystem Management Program (SCREMP).

With the signing of Memorandum of Agreement last December 20, (2013) with the Phil. Coastguard Northwestern Luzon, the DENR turned over to PCG one unit fiberglass boat (big body) with Yamaha Outboard Motor 30HP Two Stroke with Canopy and Trailer worth one million pesos. This will be used jointly in the monitoring/assessment and enforcement of laws over various Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) in the region. This will also be used in cases of emergencies like search and rescue operation. The MOA is valid until CY 2018. The DENR shall also turn-over one unit of boat to College of Fisheries Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University (in Sto.Tomas, La Union).
