Sharing of concerns on the global environment , including climate change, preservation of biological diversity and green economy during the World Conservation Congress at Jeju, Korea

This year’s World Local Governments Summit, an official event of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) World Conservation Congress  was held in Jeju , Korea  last Sept. 4-6, 2012, where RED Samuel Peñafiel and other delegates from the Philippines -  Palawan Governor Hon.  Abraham K. Mitra ,  Governor Carlos Jericho Petilla of Leyte, Vice Mayor Daniel Fariñas of Baguio City-   participated in discussions  on the role of local governments in dealing with global issues such as  global environmental hub assessment certification system, climate change , biological diversity, green economy, food security, conservation and poverty. The Summit also aimed at seeking communal solutions among the participating countries. He presented a paper entitled “Coping with the Impacts of Climate Change on Biodiversity in Three key Cities of the Ilocos Region”.   The travel also include RED Peñafiel’s attendance to the  World National Park Career Executive Officers’ Forum with theme: “Connecting People with Nature”.
